Janet McTigue
Piano
Janet McTigue was born in Marietta, GA and moved to Huntsville in 1977 when
her father brought his musical instrument repair business to the valley.
Janet is raising her two daughters Ariel, 17, and Isabella, 8, and now lives in
Madison, AL.
She comes from a long line of musicians, her mother being a piano instructor, and her grandfather Robert Glotzbach being a professor of music at Florida State University, she performed in her first recital at the young age of three. By the time she was 10 Janet was competing in festivals and auditions at local, state, regional, and national competitions and received superior ratings for the next 8 years. She earned recognition as a gifted accompanist at the age of 12 and has been accompanying and performing ever since.
Janet attended The University of Alabama in Huntsville where she earned her
bachelor’s degree in piano performance. From there she was accompanying for many musicals, including The Wind in the Willows, Oliver, The Man of La Mancha, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and many more. Janet started teaching at the age of 20 and continues to do so
to this day. She continues to perform and accompany for many concerts.
